Haunted Houses in Tulsa | Laying the foundation

Haunted houses in Tulsa, episode seven. I wanted to talk about the construction of and sandy farms and how we created one of the best haunted houses and Tulsa. I’m going to go back to the very beginning. When my mom and dad, Lonnie and Melissa started Pumpkin town. Um, they started pumpkin town in order to send us all three of their children through private school and into college. Both my parents worked full time jobs other than starting Pumpkin town. Um, my dad is a fireworks business. He works for t and t fireworks. And my mom was a full time counselor educator at Osu Tulsa and they created Pumpkin town in 1999. Uh, two, like I said, help send us through a high school and college. Um, I owe everything we have to my parents. They really started the foundation for Pumpkin town and we’ve carried it into the future for both Pumpkin town and sandy farms.

Um, we never would have dreamed to where Pumpkin town farms and it’s sandy farms has become today. Um, we never realized or even thought that someday we would build one of the best haunted houses in Tulsa. What we really tried to focus on was bringing a unique family experience to Tulsa that they can share for a lifetime. That was one of our biggest goals and starting Pumpkin town was to share memorable moments that families can share for a lifetime. Uh, we tried to create this at our pumpkin patch and we try to emphasize this with our employees as well to make every moment and Pumpkin town in salmon and farms a magical moment. Um, once I graduated. Oh, you, um, we really started to take off as far as expanding the business. Uh, we used to do all the cart where we charge per ride attraction.

We had, um, six, seven years ago, I believe we only had about five rides. We had a slide ride, we had a horse drawn hayride ride, a pony ride, a little train ride as well as an inflatable slides and bounce houses. Uh, we really wanted to get away from that and we wanted to create an experience where people are getting more than what they’re paying for ’em and by building Pumpkin town and sandy insanity farms into the, one of the best haunted houses and Tulsa. Haunted Houses in Tulsa, I think we really brought that perspective and experience to the families of Tulsa. My Dad and I handle the day to day operations. Um, we, we do all the building before the season and the tear down after the season and making sure everything’s running smoothly. A lot of quality control. We, that my dad and I spent a tremendous amount of time planning, constructing, building training.

I’m just everything involved with building a business, especially one of the best haunted houses and Tulsa, uh, we spent a lot of time developing and planning and making sure that, um, the, the experience we brought to our customers, especially the haunted houses and Tulsa, we wanted to make sure that it was a really unique experience and that the customers could, could share that experience with their group of friends. Um, another reason why we started in sandy farms, one of the best haunted houses and Tulsa is also to offer, um, something that the older teenagers college kids could do. The are a lot of rides that pumpkin towns that people don’t know that the parents, older kids, even teenagers and young adults can ride a, but um, a lot of the times they think it’s too silly or they don’t feel comfortable doing the activity with the child.

So we wanted to offer something that the teenagers college kids, young adults could do as well as the rest of the family at Pumpkin town and sandy farms, one of the best haunted houses in Tulsa. My mom and my sister are also involved with Pumpkin town farms and insanity farms. Um, my mom brings a lot of decorating. She’s really good at decorating all the Pumpkin town. She’s a really, she’s a really big visionary on what direction we’re heading with the Pumpkin town and as well as the day to day operations. Um, she’s kind of taken a step back as far as an advisory role. Ten years ago, up until five years ago, my mom was there every single day. Haunted Houses in Tulsa, and when you get up into your sixties, it’s pretty hard to do that every day, especially for my mom. So my sister and I stepped in and we started to help run the day to day operations during the season.

I’m bridget helps. That’s my sister with the employees. Uh, she cast a wide net because we need all sorts of characters and actors and even just regular cash register employees for the season. We have over 50 employees throughout the season. About a fourth of those are foreign entity farms, one of the best haunted houses and Tulsa and the rest are for Pumpkin town. Uh, we have two different shifts we have to cover. We have a morning shift. We’re, most of our workers are adults who are looking for part time and extra income for the, for the seasonal, for the season and the afternoon or more highschoolers, um, young adults who get out of school and they want to make some extra money for the, for the, for the year. Um, that’s one of our biggest challenges is finding really good employees because we are seasonal, it creates quite a challenge for us when we’re hiring a lot of the times you’re just first meeting these people and you don’t know for sure if they’re gonna make a great fit for one of the best haunted houses in Tulsa.

Um, so it’s, it’s, it’s a challenge for us as a seasonal business to find really good help. Um, I really emphasize to my sister to start early in the hiring process because it takes so many rounds to get through a potential employees to find the ones you want and even then when you do find the ones you want, um, it’s kinda difficult to tell how they’re going to work until they actually get out in the field and start working. Um, our work at Pumpkin town farms and then sandy new farms, one of the best haunted houses. And Tulsa is quite different than some of the work that most people probably are used to. Um, we work outside. So I tell people that it’s a lot, it’s a lot like working on a farm. Haunted Houses in Tulsa, you need to know how to use your tools, you need to know how to dig a hole, he knows you need to know how to drive a t post and you’ve got to be able to adapt to the weather.

Um, Oklahoma weather, it changes on a dime and a lot of the times it’ll be 60 degrees in the afternoon, and then before the shift ends, it’ll be 45 degrees or 40 degrees and they need a coat and jacket. Uh, so there’s a lot of unique things that go along with working at Pumpkin town farms and in sandy farms, one of the best haunted houses and Tulsa. Um, but, uh, with that, we do a lot of training since a lot of our employees are first time, uh, workers. Uh, the high schoolers, they require quite a bit of training. But the great thing is, is that they’re eager. They’re Lord, um, they show up, they’re good with the technology. And I’m maybe one of the biggest obstacles that we faced with them is, uh, is them listening. Uh, we really got to ask them to put away their phones and concentrate to what’s going on at Pumpkin town and insanity forums.

One of the best haunted houses and Tulsa I’m at in sandy farms. We really, really, really emphasize staying in character. This is extremely important when they first arrive at Pumpkin town and insanity new farms, one of the best haunted houses and Tulsa, uh, when they first get to our property, they must stay in their role as soon as they get out of their car. And then as soon as they leave the whole time they’re at our place. They have to stay in character. That’s one of the biggest things for us is that we don’t want to create an experience where the customer see a, some of our hired actors, employees going in without their gear on. It doesn’t create a very unique experience. It kind of takes away from that specialness that we tried to build that and sandy farms, one of the best Haunted Houses in Tulsa. In conclusion, I’m building in sandy farms was a great challenge and it wasn’t easy and it took a lot of planning. Um, but we’re really grad that we went through with it because we were now offering a really unique experience to some of the older kids and Tulsa. We’re bringing one of the best haunted houses and Tulsa to our customers, which is a really cool thing.
